Carlo Alberto Marcoaldi

Currently advisor and investor in several “innovation startups” in Italy and USA operating in variuos industries (from web-marketing to med-tech), Marcoaldi was until March 2015 vicepresident of Gastameco srl and of its operating branches in the impact investing sector related to temporary social housing.

Carlo Alberto Marcoaldi was previuosly founder, CEO and honorary chairman of ERM Italia spa, Italian branch of Environmental Resources Management, one of the world leaders of environmental consultancy. During the 25+ years as Principal Partner of ERM Group, Marcoaldi played many different roles: CEO of EMEA Region, president of LAC region, and Global Sales Director in the early 2000, based in New York City and leading the new Global Key Program, mostly focused on O&G, Mining, Manufacturing, Chemical&Pharma. For many years Marcoaldi was a member of the Executive Committee of ERM Group.

As an EHS senior consultant, mostly for corporate strategic programs, Marcoaldi worked on mega ESHIAs, both for O&G and infrastructural projects, as well as large remediations of contaminated lands and safety programs on large construction sites.

Marcoaldi is currently project investment director with OPES- Low Carbon Enterprise Fund, an AngloItalian charity, investing in energy projects in developing countries and with CoCreation Ventures plc, impact investment company in USA. He also sole director of Sambatech srl (investment vehicle) and sits in the BoDs of Contexo Advisors srl, Sailsquare srl and MMI spa, which recently raised the largest Series A investment ever in Italy.

Degree of Chemical Engineer in 1972 at Pisa University , he was for one year assistant professor of Industrial Chemistry in the same University. Marcoaldi then worked for Montedison, at the time the largest Italian chemical company, both in Italy and abroad, first as project manager and later as production manager. In the eighties Marcoaldi moved to the organization consultancy, first with AT Kearney and then with Inside srl, logistics&operations management boutique of which he was one of the founders. He speaks and writes fluently both in English and French.
